Viz media announces Bleach download rights
Hit Supernatural Action Series To Be Made Domestically Available Via High Quality Download

San Francisco, CA, August 13, 2007 " VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), one of the entertainment industry's most innovative and comprehensive
publishing, animation and licensing companies, has announced it has secured from TV Tokyo and Shueisha the download rights to the hit supernatural action anime series BLEACH". Twenty episodes of both the dubbed and subtitled versions of the series will be made available for download in the United States beginning on August 31, 2007 on direct2drive.com and totalvid.

BLEACH is the latest VIZ Media series to be readied for digital delivery. VIZ Media has already made the highly acclaimed DEATH NOTE series available for download in the United States, marking the first time a well-known Japanese anime property had officially been made available for download while the title still aired on Japanese television. VIZ Media offers its content for download through various independent vendors including Direct2Drive and TotalVid.

BLEACH is based on the best-selling manga by Tite Kubo, also published in North America by VIZ Media. The anime series, as seen on Cartoon Network"s Adult Swim, follows the adventures of Ichigo, a fifteen-year old student with the ability to see ghosts. When his family is attacked by a Hollow " a malevolent lost soul " Ichigo encounters Rukia, a Soul Reaper, and absorbs her powers. Now, he"s dedicating his life to protecting the innocent and helping tortured souls find peace. The pair encounters plenty of action as they investigate an intriguing range of spiritual mysteries and frequently run into all manner of malevolent and usually violent spirits and demons that are reluctant to return to their own world peacefully.

"We are excited to announce we have acquired the Download-To-Own and Download-To-Rent rights to BLEACH," states Daniel Marks, Senior Vice President, Strategy & Business Development, VIZ Media. "Broadband delivery of anime content serves as a compelling counterpart to traditional formats such as DVD. We will continue to respond to the growing demand for high quality content on digital platforms."

Added Neon Genesis Evangelion review
Evabeast.com finally added a review about Neon Genesis Evangelion. For years the site's content mainly revolved around NGE, but it didn't yet feature a review about it.

Evabeast.com moved to a new server
As of today, Evabeast.com is run on a different server which it's been on since May 2005. The old server featured a 1,6Ghz CPU and 512MB memory along with a 10Mbit network card. The new server has got a 2Ghz CPU, 1024MB memory and a 100Mbit card. The server move will mean that the site will load significantly faster. Another important feature is the new server's software, it's less prone to crashing due to for instance high server loads or bugs in the server software. This means the website won't be down as much as it has been in the past. Lastly, the new server is completely under our own management and only about half an hour drive from our work stations. All in all, the server move is one big improvement.

So yet another milestone in transforming Evabeast.com is complete. Soon we'll be using a different method of displaying webpages, which is much more easily editable, allowing for more frequent updates.

Added End of Evangelion review
After a long period of inactivity, Evabeast.com revitalizes its reviews-section. As a tribute to the fact that a large part of the website's content is about the series Neon Genesis Evangelion, this first review is about the movie which ended the series.

Evabeast.com main page greatly modified
Today we've greatly improved the main page of Evabeast.com. Now you can see three random images of the galleries which we've just put back online yesterday, and the navigation menu on the left has been simplified. Comments about this new setup are more than welcome.

Image galleries back online
After a long period of downtime, we've finally put back up the image galleries. Because of constant abuse of this site section, which caused the server to over load, we had no choice but to take it offline. A way to secure the galleries so that this won't happen again has just been found, so we've re-opened the galleries. Enjoy!

At the same time, we've modified the galleries appearance to suit the rest of the website, and adjusted the top 10 new posts box at the main page: it shows now only posts in anime- or Neon Genesis Evangelion-related topics.

Evabeast.com turns five years
Within a month EVABEAST.COM will become five years old, on the 22nd of April to be exact. Its roots are actually even older so we've been around for quite some time!

This year we'll make a great number of changes to the website and reap the benefits of having one of the oldest and most mature communities on the Net. Granted, we're not very big, but our mouth's a lot bigger . Anyway, the website will be more and more about the community, empowering them with fancy new tools to publish new content to the website. A fresh new look will come into play as well. We don't know when everything's finished, but we do know that nobody has to wait until 2008...

But for now we just want to pause a moment and take a look at where we're at now. A lot has happened in five years, and we just want everyone to know that we of the staff had a great time all these years and that we'll never get tired of even more members and more eventful years. So keep'em coming!

There's a special board for the ocassion, you're invited to join us and celebrate. We'd like to see you there, and naturally on the rest of the forums as well.

Your sincerely,

Evabeast.com staff

Sheep
Nanatsuiro Drops, a PC game made by Unionshift: Blossom, is set to be adapted into an anime next year.

What's all this got to do with sheep? Well, the plot of the original game involves the hero becoming an adorable stuffed sheep at night, and as the above link shows, it seems that this character will be appearing in the anime in some capacity.

It's so cute...

Dragonball Z Remastered
Now, it's not everyone's cup of tea (I for one can't stand it), but no one can deny the impact that Dragonball Z has had on the world of anime.

Early next year, FUNimation plan to release season box sets of the popular martial arts series, digitally remastered so that every single scene will glow with superb clarity.

Fate|Stay Night
Coming just in time for Christmas is Fate|Stay Night, an anime based upon a PC game developed by Type-Moon of Lunar Legend Tsukihime fame.

Fate|Stay Night is based in a high fantasy world where wizards and magical spells are the order of the day. In the aftermath of a war for possession of the Holy Grail itself, apprentice mage Shirou is thrown unprepared into a quest to save the world.

Obviously, it'll have some appeal to the gaming/RPG crowd, but has enough innovative character design and story twists to appeal to a wider audience than one may suspect at first glance.

Ergo Proxy
Check out the Ergo Proxy official website. Trailers, synopses, character profiles, images and more, it should set you up for the forthcoming DVD release of the series.

I could tell you what it's all about, but that would just defeat the whole point of the site, wouldn't it? Suffice to say, the series features a seemingly utopian society where humans and mechanoids co-exist. Naturally, there's something darker lurking beneath the surface...

Hallowe'en in Canada?
Anime North, one of the biggest Canadian anime convention organisers, will be holding a Hallowe'en Dance on the 27th of October! It kicks off at 7pm at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto, and you'd better believe that it's cosplay fancy dress themed!

Full details and directions can be found at their website, and here is a direct link to the flyer for the event. I'm a little disappointed that I won't be able to make it, but all you Canadians out there ought to be able to enjoy yourselves, I'm sure!

Mushishi Trailer
There's a spiffy new trailer for the live-action movie version of Mushishi.

For those not familiar with the anime and manga, it's a tale about spirits called the Mushi (hence the title) and Ginko, a man who concerns his whole life with investigating the Mushi and the deeds that they do.

Of course, if you've seen the trailer then you won't need any more convincing.

New Anime from Sakaki Ichiro
Sakaki Ichiro, of Scrapped Princess fame, is to have another of his stories adapted to anime in the near future.

Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica was first published as a range of Kinetic novels last year, and is also a successful series of games, with the promotional poster for the latest GameBoy release subtly leaking the news of the forthcoming anime.

But what's it all about? The easy selling point to put across would be that it's set in a world where the dead walk, and a great mystery must be solved regarding their origins and destiny.

Should be worth keeping an eye on...

Wanna Work On Japanese TV?
Well, maybe not quite that. But it does seem that Bloomberg is looking for someone to start working on a Japanese news program for them, in the UK.

Not directly anime-related perhaps, but it's certainly a way to put those Japanese language skills that you've picked up watching fansubs to good use!

Monster can tell you more about it.
